Speedway Speedway returns to the North !! A number of members from the Townsville Motorcycle Club have been working tirelessly and have created a great new circuit at Woodstock. In the past 5 years, the club has hosted big name events including the 2009 Australian Senior Long Track Championship, numerous Queensland Dirt and Long Track Championships as well as the Australian Junior Long Track Championships. Townsville Motorcycle Club now has its sights set on hosting major Speedway events, attracting Australia’s best talent to the circuit. The club has already successfully run practice days for local riders with over 50 male and female riders giving it the thumbs up. “Unfortunately, the Show Society was unable to fill the void of Speedway in Townsville after the destruction of the Bohle Complex” a spokesperson said. “Speedway copped another blow with the closure of Pioneer Park. As a result, a group of enthusiastic Speedway parents and riders have gathered together and, with the assistance of Motorcycling Queensland, modified our existing race track to suit the requirements of Speedway racing”. |
