Historic Road Racing

TMCC Historic Road Racing Class

Why introduce Historic Road Racing ?

Historic Road Racing is a popular class nationally for both competitors and spectators alike .

Historic Road racing is a natural extension of Road Racing , and will possibly result in redundant road race machines or
“retired road racers”  returning to competition .

Machines that would be uncompetitive in existing TMCC classes are able to race in a class against machines of similar performance .

Machines  that wouldn’t normally be entered into current TMCC classes for whatever reason may appear .

Historic Road racing is broken down into well defined periods and classes in the GCR .

Machines don’t date – wider rims , or USD forks , or other modifications cannot be fitted if they weren’t available in the relevant period .

Why do I need a Log Booked Machine for Historic Road Racing ? My machine is a 1971 model….……….

The function of  Log Booking is to achieve the determine of  machine / class eligibility by an impartial MA Committee . Once the machine is log booked –

bulletIt is eligible to be entered into Historic Road Racing events .
bulletEligibility has been assessed and determined by an impartial body .
bulletNationwide consistency is maintained

It is important to note that a given machine does not have to be concourse eg , as it left the showroom , to be eligible for a Log Book. .
Modifications are permitted ,  for example  Period 4  machines with a front drum brake may be fitted with a disc brake,  Ducati forks may be fitted to a Honda etc etc – provided such modifications or components were available and / or used in  the relevant  period .

The  main function of Log Books is to obtain eligibility assessment and approval by the  MA Historic Road Race Committee.

Obtaining a Log Book is a simple process , a Log Book Application Form is here .

 Log Book Exemption

In recognition of the fact that Historic Road Racing is new to the TMCC , and in an effort to encourage new competitors and develop the class , machines that basically meet the Historic class requirements will be able to be entered into Historic class , subject to approval of our eligibility scrutineer . This eligibility  will be limited to two meetings , after which time a Log Book must be produced .
